The End

The End

Taking Media Studies really widen my perspective in the film industry. Before I didn't know much about camera angles or editing.Camera angles have really helped me with my angles and compositions in my other creative subjects. Now I am more interested in analysing films when I watch them. Also I really enjoyed learning how to use final cut, this will really help me to create videos that I can feature my work through and have an voiceover. My skills have really developed in media through this course.

Although in my media group we had loads of problems and fights, I'm glad to say in the end I made amazing friends.

How successful was your product?

Focus Group:

It was nice to know that they liked the emotional soundtrack. Also we will look into editing  and the sound, since they found the sound fuzzy and unclear. However they said that the narration makes the storyline and visuals clear.

They were impressed by our camera work, mostly the pan camera shot, also they said the pace of the movie was just right.

They felt like the font of the credits was too strong since the film opening was emotional. However the film titles font looked like a horror film title.Although they said the film titles name was creative, they weren't sure about the meaning and if it suited the film.

There were a few shots cut out of the film that the group really liked:

-Your just like your father

-The egg flipping shot

This really helped us see how we improved our film since the draft, it was nice to know our target audiences opinions.

Alternative Gym

Alternative Gym:

In our group we decided to look for an alternative gym, since the last gym's background sound really disturbed the footage. Also it was hard to film since the gym was packed with people, it was tricky to capture shots only using one side of the ring.

So with some research, we managed to find an alternative gym only 10 minutes away from school !

The Cage

Here are a few photos of how the gym looks like. It has :

-Good lighting both natural and studio
-A boxing ring
-Punching bags
-Boxing gloves

Targets for final film

New and Improved Idea

In our previous film we realized that there were many mistakes we made that really changed the way the film looks. Before we planned the new film we had to look at what we did right and what we did wrong.

Mistakes:

-Unorganized shots = On set we had to think of the shots we wanted to take which took up most of our time.

-Location = As a whole group we should have checked if the location was suitable beforehand, there was a green painted wall which was very distracting.(At the house)

-Lighting=  We thought we could use natural lighting and the light from inside the house .But it turned out that the natural lighting wasn't enough. There wasn't enough light entering the house which created bad quality footage.

 What we did right:

- Variety of angles

-Suitable clothing and props

-Great actors

What we should do to improve our film:

-Check location before filming

-Plan shots before hand

-Check the lighting at the location=
-Go at a early time of the day to use natural lighting?
                                                             -Use school studio light?
